Member Spotlight: The Simple Good

We caught up with the team at The Simple Good, members at Workbox – Fulton Market, to learn more about their company’s mission and how they’re planning to close out 2026.

Tell us a little about your company!

The Simple Good (TSG) is a Chicago-based nonprofit that brings mindfulness-based, arts-integrated social-emotional learning to youth across Chicago. We partner with schools and community organizations to help kids build emotional regulation, self-awareness, and resilience through creative, hands-on programming, not just worksheets and lectures.

What is your company’s mission, and what problem are you working to solve?

Our mission is to make mindfulness-based, arts-integrated SEL accessible to every young person in Chicago and beyond. Chicago schools are facing real budget pressure and social-emotional support, and art is often the first thing cut. We are working hard to make sure that students do not lose access to the tools that help them thrive emotionally and academically.

What do you love most about what you do?

Watching our students shift how they believe they belong in the world and transforming into ‘superheroes ’ even in the smallest ways. We challenge our students to understand their meaning of ‘the simple good ’ and its powerful to see how that small understanding can open up a student in so many powerful ways.

Do you have any recent company news, awards, or milestones you are proud of?

We are celebrating our 15-year anniversary since our founding. We are proud to have grown from a grassroots organization to a growing nonprofit that has touched thousands of people around the world over the years, and we look forward to what our next chapter will unfold.

At Workbox, our mission has always been about Member Success. What does success mean to you?

Success means building something sustainable that has a positive impact and creates stronger communities. For us, that means continuing to grow our programs and reach more young people with the tools they need to thrive.

What’s next for your company? Is there anything you’re currently working on that you’d like to share?

We have a very special gala coming up this year, as we celebrate major milestones for two organizations committed to shaping Chicago’s future. We at The Simple Good celebrate 15 years of empowering youth through art and social emotional learning, while Classick Studios celebrates 20 years of championing independent artists and investing in the next generation of creatives, leaders, and culture makers. Together, we are uniting our communities to create lasting impact for the future of Chicago.
